Smishkewych氏はアメリカのインディアナ州ブルーミントンにて古楽器の再製、修復を専門に行っている。彼のこのストラディバリのマンドリンの説明を原文のまま載せる。

This is a Renaissance mandolin built by me, Eugene Smishkewych in the manner of the great master Antonio Stradivarius. It has been built in the traditional methods used by him. It has five courses and is tuned like a guitar the high e being the same as on the violin, although it may be tuned in any fashion desired. It has a clear resounding tone and a unique feature is that holding it by the third peg from the nut and tapping the neck an F# is heard as if the instrument were a bell. It has been balanced and weighted to create this tap tone. It is an extremely light instrument, as light as a feather, which adds to the volume and brilliance of the instrument. If there are any questions please ask away. My choice for you is this extraordinary example of Milanese instrument created in the manner of the the great master Antonio Stradivarius.
【アントニオ・ストラディバリのバイオリン】
アントニオ・ストラディバリは1644年〜1737年12月18日没とされているが正確な生年月日は不明である。アマティ工房の弟子として技術を修得し（異論も多い）、1680年クレモナのサン・ドメニコ広場に工房を構えた。
現存するストラディバリウスは600挺と言われているが、鑑定書付きの「ストラディバリウス」は2,000挺ほどもある。贋作や複製楽器も多い。
ストラディバリウスの銘器の多くは1698年〜1725年に集中している。
ストラディバリウスの三大銘器は，ドルフィン（1714年），アラード（1715年），メサイア（1716年）とされ、アラードは現在個人のコレクターが所有．メサイアはイギリスのオックスフォードのアシュモリアン美術館に展示．ということは使用中は諏訪内晶子愛用のドルフィンだけ。

2006年5月16日クリスティーズのオークションでの1707年ハンマーは354万4000ドル(当時約4億)で落札されて注目された。
バイオリンばかりかビオラ、チェロ、ギター、マンドリンなども製作している。
ギターに関しては1680年頃の作品。複弦5コースのギターが２台現存している。1つはパリ国立音楽院、もう1つは個人所有
